    County Auditor:
In 1870, as part of a revamping of county government, the office of County Auditor was created.  As the "Hub of County Government", so labeled by the Institute of Public Affairs, the Auditors Office has many responsibilities.  The County Auditor is an elected official with a term of four years.  Not only is the Auditor the County's Financial Officer, but also the Clerk to the Board of Supervisors, the Custodian of the Court House, the Overseer of the County Plats, and the Commissioner of Elections.

Other tasks performed by the Auditor's office include:

    * Filing and maintaining insurance policies and surety bonds.

    * Maintaining all drainage records and assessments.

    * Processing licenses and permits, for fireworks, the sale of cigarettes, beer and liquor.
